ABOUT US

The Incarcerated Gender Violence Survivors Initiative (IGVSI) is a unique and cutting-edge effort to address the failure of the criminal justice system to acknowledge the devastating impact of domestic violence on survivors.

IGVSI is a collaboration among legal and social services organizations, law firms, advocacy groups, former prosecutors and judges, formerly incarcerated survivors, a former prison superintendent, and other individuals committed to assisting survivors of gender violence involved in the criminal justice system. The Initiative conducts bi-monthly meetings to discuss case strategy, share updates, and discuss overall planning and priorities.

OUR HISTORY

IGVSI began in 2017 after Dorchen Leidholdt, the Director of Sanctuary for Families' Legal Center, and Richard Rothman, a partner at Weil Gotshal successfully concluded their parole hearing representation of Niki Rossakis . . .
